Prolonged exposure to modified visual stimuli can lead to loss of visual sensitivity (visual fatigue). Repeated light stimulation on the same spot results in a decay of perception. The effect of fatigue can cause patients to perform poorly in field tests, especially in cases with a moderate defect.
