Six muscles located within the eyeball whose function is to control the movement of the eyeball. They rotate the eye around the anteroposterior, horizontal, and vertical axes. These muscles are the superior rectus, medial rectus, inferior rectus, lateral rectus, superior oblique, and inferior oblique.
