Soft and hard (gas permeable) contact lenses designed to be worn for extended periods. Currently, silicone hydrogel material is preferred to hydrogel material because it has better oxygen permeability. Most of these lenses can be worn for up to 7-30 continuous days. However, infection, neovascularization, irritation, and inflammation may occur.
