A temporary, synthetic, punctal plug used after refractive surgery for dry eye, and to retain medications in the eye. It is inserted through the punctal opening into the canaliculus to block the drainage of tears. It is made of different materials such as E-caprolactone, polydioxanone, and L-lactide copolymer, and lasts from ~10-12 weeks.
