An uncommon complication of LASIK characterized by ingrowth of corneal epithelial cells inside the lamellar interface underneath the LASIK flap. The growth is usually asymptomatic but may give rise to a melting LASIK flap, irregular corneal astigmatism, corneal edema, and an inflammatory response. It can present as mild and peripheral, or severe.
