Abnormality where the eyelid pretarsal muscle and skin rise over the eyelid margin creating an extra lid fold usually in the lower eyelid. The condition is generally prevalent in the Asian population and may be sporadic or autosomal dominant. It is predominantly a self-limiting pediatric disorder which resolves as the patient grows. The acquired disease is associated with thyroid eye disease and other proptosis abnormalities.
