Progressive, hyaline-like calcified globules made of mucoproteins and mucopolysaccharides and found in the optic disc. They are associated with angioid streaks, Alagille syndrome, retinis pigmentosa, Noonan syndrome, and Usher syndrome. The drusen are not the same ones affecting age-related macular degeneration.
