Episcleral tissue inflammation and swelling affecting a part of the eye, and at times the whole eye. It is the most common form of episcleritis, accounting for close to 75% of the incidences. Often, the characteristics peak in about 24 hours, and then gradually fade within the next few days. About 60% of the cases may recur with declining frequency.
