Surgical disinsertion of the ciliary muscle fibers from the scleral spur to reduce intraocular pressure. It is occasionally used to treat glaucoma. However, it may lead to hypotony or low intraocular pressure which can result in further complications such as refractive changes, optic disk swelling, cataract development, and more retinal complications.
