Focal extracellular debris deposits (drusen) found between an inner layer (collagenous) of the Bruch membrane and the retinal pigment epithelium’s basal lamina. Drusen is majorly comprised of lipid, esterified and unesterified cholesterol, and phosphatidylcholine. It is mainly associated with age-related macular degeneration.
