Abnormality characterized by the tightening of tendons, muscles, skin and other tissues. It often results in rigidity and deformity of joints, which prevents normal movement of the affected part. The condition can be caused by nerve damage, trauma, scarring, or lack of using/exercising the muscles. It may also occur after a stem cell transplant that resulted in chronic graft-versus-host disease.
