An inflammation disorder involving the tarsal conjunctiva, the transparent tissue lining the back of the upper eyelid. It is marked by mucus secretion, hyperaemia and an enlarged papilla. The disorder affects people who wear contact lenses or an artificial eye (ocular prosthesis) and is one of the significant reasons for contact lens discontinuance.
