Ill-fitting contact lenses may cause the eye to become red or hyperaemia. The anomaly may also be caused by many other factors such as changes in corneal curvature and tear film deficiencies due to prolonged contact lens wear. Usually, the symptoms clear a few hours after removing the contact lens.
