A clear shelf made of silicone or acrylic, which is placed in the conjunctival fornices after an enucleation to hold the shape, ready for the prosthesis (artificial eye). A conformer allows the lids to blink over the shell without rubbing the suture line. It is won for six to eight weeks after surgery.
