A congenital abnormality characterized by a hole in the structure of the eye or eyelid. Affected parts may include the retina, eyelid, optic disc, choroid, and iris. During gestation, the choroidal fissure may fail to close properly, causing a coloboma. It can be unilateral or bilateral and it affects vision.
