The six positions of gaze which allow eye movement where each eye is controlled primarily by one muscle. The movement can be vertical, horizontal or diagonal and produced by the six extraocular muscles with both eyes working together. One eye’s muscle is yoked with the other eye’s muscle and move both eyes together in a certain direction. These positions are up/right, up/left, right, left, down/right, and down/left.
