A fungal infection caused by candida, a yeast. The most common cause of infection in humans is Candida albicans affecting the throat, mouth, vagina, and gut. Most times, it is harmless unless it enters some organs or into the bloodstream. Candidiasis may cause retinal and vitreal lesions that might leave behind a visual sequela.
