One of the four waves on the electroretinogram (ERG) only seen in the dark-adapted eye because of the reduction in potassium ions from the closure of photoreceptor outer segment cation channels. The c-wave is derived from photoreceptors and the retinal epithelium layer. It can be influenced by eye movements, electrode drift, and blink because of the response developing over several seconds.
