A rare macular dystrophy that depicts various disorders where there is retinal pigment degeneration at the macula. The disease causes ring-shaped or dartboard patterns of damage around the macula. It is distinctive damage associated with prolonged use of immunosuppressants as part of rheumatoid arthritis or lupus therapy. The condition can also be a result of genetic retinal abnormalities.
