It is a corneal stroma and epithelium swelling (edema) caused by the bullae formation on the corneal surface due to dehydration or disease. The condition occurs in advanced glaucoma and iridocyclitis, Fuchs endothelial dystrophy, endothelial failure and occasionally following an intraocular (IOL) implantation.
