A lens used in refractive surgery to protect a diseased or injured cornea from the constant rubbing of the eyes and blinking and allow for healing. The lens is purposed to reduce infiltration into the corneal stroma of inflammatory cells and ward off threats of corneal scarring. It helps to regenerate the basement membrane and restore tight epithelial stromal adhesion. Bandage contact lens does not improve vision but can be used to treat conditions like keratitis, dry eyes, anterior corneal dystrophy, bullous keratopathy, and so on.
