A refractive, corneal surgical procedure used to correct astigmatism through an incision or two on the cornea’s steep axis, peripheral to the pupil zone. This corneal correction measures up to ~3.00DC of astigmatism. However, patients with mild astigmatism obtain successful results, whereas severe cases may still need glasses or contact lenses even after astigmatic keratotomy.
