A scotoma or localized defect in the field of vision which extends from the blind spot into the nasal raphe. The scotoma is a result of a defect in a nerve bundle located on the temporal side of the optic disk. It occurs in the area 10-20 degrees from fixation, with retinal and optic nerve diseases, among others.
