Unilateral neglect of the left side of an object, the position of the object concerning the individual notwithstanding. The condition is caused by a stroke. It is contrasted with egocentric neglect, where an individual neglects information falling on his/her left side. Allocentric and egocentric neglect fall under hemispatial neglect (HM), which is a failure to allocate attention to a region of space opposite to where damage occurred in the brain (often the left side of space).
