A common form of allergic conjunctivitis affecting children’s noses and eyes at least weekly, especially in developed countries. It is characterized by transient swelling, conjunctival edema, itching, nasal symptoms, fatigue, and cough. It is called allergic rhinitis (or hay fever, ‘sinus’ or ‘sensitive nose’) if it affects the nose only. If not controlled, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis can aggravate asthma symptoms, rhinosinusitis, and middle ear disease, and significantly affect physical and emotional functioning. Children with perennial nasal congestion are often under-diagnosed. ?
