A rare visual processing disorder with the patient unable to perceive movement or motion due to bilateral cortical lesions outside the striate cortex (damage to MT/V5 area). Object movement appears like a discontinuous freeze frame. For instance, pouring water into a glass is difficult because the water seems frozen. The term Akinetopsia is a combination of three Greek words, ‘a’ means ‘not,’ ‘kine’ means ‘move,’ and ‘opsia’ means ‘see.’
