Svyatoslav Fyodorov was a Russian ophthalmologist who developed radial keratotomy. He was also the first ophthalmologist in the Soviet Union to perform IOL placement in 1960.
He died in the crash of his clinic's helicopter near Moscow while returning from an academic conference in 2000.
