Your baby's excessive blinking may be due to several reasons. It could be cornea-related issues such as dry eye, corneal abrasion (scrape or scratch on the cornea), foreign body in the eye, ingrown eyelashes, pink eye, or eye allergies. Habitual tics, involuntary repetitive body movements, can also cause excessive blinking. Refractive errors yet to be corrected such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, are also possible causes. Excessive blinking can also result from strabismus, where the child's eyes point in different directions because they are not properly aligned. Stress too can lead to excessive blinking.
