Hurler syndrome, also known as  mucopolysaccharidosis  type I  (MPS I),  Hurler's disease  or  gargoylism, is a  genetic disorder  that results in the buildup of  mucopolysaccharides  due to a deficiency of  alpha-L iduronidase, an  enzyme  responsible for the degradation ofmucopolysaccharides  in  lysosomes.
