You can conduct an eye exam at home for both children and adults. First, gather the supplies you require which include a pair of scissors, tape/tack, pencil/pen, measurement tool, flashlight, an eye cover, and correct testing chart (biggest letter should be about one inch tall). Tape the chart on a wall of a well-lit room that is at least 10 feet long. The chart should be at the examinee's eye level while sitted. Let your examinee sit ten feet away from the chart, then ask him/her to cover one eye. Using the flashlight, illuminate each line of the chart as they read. Next, request them to read each line of the chart and record the last line the examinee can read. Then repeat the procedure with the other eye and record the results as well. If your examinee typically wears glasses, they can have them on while doing the test.
